Murder Maps needs to know roughly where you are to draw the map. That's the only reason it asks — and the answer stays on your device.
What that means in practice
- Location data is processed on device and never uploaded.
- No account, no sign-up, no email required to use the app.
- Apple's privacy label lists only a device ID, collected for app functionality and not linked to you.
- Free to download, with no subscription and nothing to unlock.
A note on the cases
Every incident in Murder Maps involves a real person and a real family. Cases are drawn from publicly documented, previously reported homicides, and they're presented as records — not entertainment at anyone's expense. If a case listing is inaccurate, or you'd like one reviewed, get in touch through the app's Submit an Incident screen and we'll look at it.
